We writers can learn valuable tips and storytelling techniques from one another.
But there’s a lot of content out there, and just googling questions we have about the writer’s craft can bring up way too much content to sift through.
When I’m looking to learn more about creative writing, I turn to these 4 author websites!
1. WiredforStory.com
Lisa Cron’s website is full of free resources and e-courses.
If you haven’t heard of her books, they are a must-read!
Looking at writing through the lens of brain science, Cron discusses techniques that build stories with purpose and engage readers.
Whether you’re planning your plot or strengthening character development, she’ll have the resources for you!
2. FightWrite.Net
From a writer with extensive fight training, this blog is your one-stop shop for all things fighting and action.
If you’re seeking to write a realistic fight scene, learn how your characters would wield various weapons or the extensive background of wound care, you’ll likely find what you need here.
3. CampfireWriting.com
This website is the place to worldbuild. If you’ve got a sprawling fantasy tale or any other world you’re crafting, Campfire Writing has numerous tools to help you map out all the intricacies without getting them tangled up.
Among other tools, they have digital mapmakers and character creators.
For the writer who wants more guidance, Campfire Writing is made up of eight modules that will support you throughout the story planning process.
4. Reedsy.com
From generators, writing contests, publishing directories and blog posts to guide you from draft to publication, Reedsy has so many resources all in one place!
You can find all of these services and more, right here!
Bonus!
And a personal plug! My goal on the blog, juliamaloneauthor.com, is to support writers in crafting a writing journey that suits their lifestyle.
You’ll find a mix of blog posts on the writing craft, productivity tips and the writer’s mindset to help you grow holistically into a confident, resilient writer.
I hope you’ll come back from time to time to check it all out!
